Description

The Ecopack Deodorizer is a high-efficiency system designed for physical refining of edible oils, especially those with high Free Fatty Acid (FFA) content. Built with robust construction and precision automation, it combines structural packing with a multi-tray system to ensure effective removal of FFAs and odoriferous compounds under high vacuum and low temperature.

Its design ensures maximum steam-oil interaction with minimal steam consumption, optimising refining efficiency while protecting oil quality. Each tray provides controlled residence time for effective deodorization and the integrated economizer improves thermal efficiency by preheating incoming oil.

The Ecopack Deodorizer supports smooth downstream processing, reliable operation and easy maintenance, making it ideal for modern refining operations.

Working principle

Deaerated oil enters the Ecopack Deodorizer and is exposed to high vacuum conditions that reduce the boiling point of FFAs and odoriferous compounds. Structural packings and deodorizer trays work in tandem to strip volatiles in short contact time using minimal steam.

The oil flows sequentially through trays, spending 10–15 minutes on each before moving to the next. This staged contact ensures thorough deodorization. After passing through all trays, the oil is routed through an economizer, which transfers heat to the incoming oil, improving energy efficiency. The deodorized oil is then polished via a final filter before being sent to storage.

An integrated fatty acid scrubber ensures minimal FFA carryover and an optional dual scrubber enables tocopherol concentration.
