Kumar’s DBEx (Double Bed Extractor) is purpose-built for continuous solvent extraction with a focus on uniform oil percolation, minimal mechanical damage to material, and high tolerance for feedstock inconsistencies. The double-bed configuration allows for staged washing and extraction with superior control over flow rates, solvent exposure, and drainage.

Its low-speed operation and fixed, self-cleaning screens ensure a stable bed without channeling, resulting in consistent miscella quality and lower residual oil. The DBEx is particularly well-suited to processors seeking operational efficiency, reduced desolventiser toaster (DT) load, and long-term reliability in high-throughput environments.

Material is introduced into the extractor through the top-mounted inlet hopper. An internal chain conveyor moves the feed slowly across the first bed, where it is supported on a series of linear V-bar screens. Solvent is sprayed through staged circulation pumps, washing the material and extracting oil efficiently without disturbing the bed.

At the discharge end of the top bed, material flows gently onto the second bed for continued washing and drainage. The double-bed layout ensures deeper miscella penetration and uniform flow. The final stage includes flashing and separation, with spent material exiting at a low solvent retention—reducing DT energy costs. The extractor’s self-cleaning screens prevent clogging, ensuring consistent operation with minimal maintenance.
