Material enters the extractor and forms a shallow, uniform bed that continuously moves along a horizontal path. Solvent is introduced in a counter-current flow to the material, promoting effective oil or component extraction. The moving bed gently flips the flakes or solids, allowing the solvent to contact all surfaces. As the bed advances, stationary V-bar screens are kept clean by the motion of the material itself, preventing clogging. An inclined chain before discharge prevents solvent pooling and ensures a steady flow into the desolventiser-toaster.
